 About Alyssa

Alyssa, the founder of Fluent Readers SF, is an expert in childhood development with nearly seven years of teaching experience. She has worked with children of a variety of ages and a range of skills, including those with special needs and the highly gifted. She is an extremely positive, enthusiastic and dedicated person who takes great pride in fostering a supportive and nurturing learning environment. She carefully structures her lessons to meet the needs of every child she teaches so that they may achieve their greatest potential. Alyssa holds a  multiple subject teaching credential as well as a Masters in Education from UC Davis. She has also passed the California Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA) and holds a CLAD English Learner certificate which authorizes her to teach both ELD and SDAIE instruction for English learners.

       About Sam

Sam received her BA in Human Development with a minor in Early Childhood Education from Sonoma State.  She moved to San Francisco to acquire her CLAD multiple subject teaching credential and has taught in the Bay Area for the past seven years.  Sam has experience working in both preschool and elementary settings, public and private. She is currently completing her California Reading Certificate which will authorize her to be a reading specialist in California public schools. As a teacher she has always been drawn to innovating the ways literacy is incorporated into her classroom.  Working with Fluent Readers SF has allowed Sam to further pursue her passion for literacy and empowering children to learn the skills necessary to become confident and fluent readers. Sam has Passed the RICA Reading Instruction Competence Assessment, CBEST/CSET
CLAD English Learner certificate. She also cleared her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in 2009.
